Brand Roundup: Amanda Wakeley – Strength and Passion of British Fashion
Be passionate. If you don’t get out of bed and look forward to what you’re doing, then that’s a sad day.
These were the words of a strong woman, who survived a rollarcoaster ride in her life to achieve and live her dream today, spoken during an Interview in 2016 with Jyoti Shah for RCS Bulletin. That woman is Amanda Wakeley.
In this week’s Brand Roundup we are talking about Amanda Wakeley – The British fashion label, named after its owner Amanda Wakeley. The luxury label is best known for evening and cocktail dresses and accessories.
Since its birth in 1990, the label is proud part of Royal Wardrobe with Princess Diana’s blessing in the form of patronage. Diana’s Daughter-in-Law Duchess of Cambridge Catherine chose the label for her first solo official engagement in 2011. Queen Rania of Jordan was one of the early adopter of the label.

The Wakeley designs are known for clean lines, impeccable fit and luxe detailing to take women through every aspect of their life’s journey with effortless chic vibes.
Encompassing everything from beautifully cut ready-to-wear pieces, luxury handbags, small leather goods and a world-renowned wedding dress collection, the label serves every corner of women wardrobe.
The exquisite bridal collection is a sumptuous mix of dreamy romance, timeless elegance blended with contemporary vibes and just a sprinkle of diva glam.
Amanda is strong women who designs for strong women. The story behind the label is amazingly inspirational. The label established by Amanda in 1990 without any formal training, was sold by her ex-husband and business partner to Richard Caring in 2000, who further sold the label to Saudi billionaire in 2005, who then sold it further just three years later to former city trader Jason Granite.
Amanda initially after first sold out was left with a small percentage of share and worked in her own company as an employee. But the constant flux of sale and purchase was taking a toll on Amanda who eventually handed over her resignation in 2008.
‘Yes, it was shocking, but I’ve never been one to sit around and lick my wounds. You just get on, pick yourself up, dust yourself off,’
Amanda was determined to get her dream back. She came back with a new found focus and dedication and few months later she re-acquired the Amanda Wakeley brand and since then there was no looking back for the label.
Recognised as a leading force in the fashion industry, Amanda was made an OBE for her services to British fashion in 2010.
The ageless designs of label are epitome of chic. In her own words, Amanda told Yorkshire post in 2017,
“Obviously, it’s always incredibly flattering when a celebrity or a royal choose to endorse the brand by wearing it, but I really feel that my mission is to reach out and make every woman feel the best version of themself.”
Whether it is vibrant colours, floral prints, chic silhouette or red-carpet worthy gowns, Amanda’s hardworking team provides timeless elegance under one roof empowering women by turning their wardrobe into a power house of confidence.
